Online advertising company AdEffective (ASX:ABN) has announced the launch of Yeildom, its domain name monetisation platform.
Yieldom - the second of the company's three planned online ad platform initiatives - has gone live in the US, the company revealed on Thursday.
The platform has been designed to monetise parked domain names and portfolios, traditionally low value assets, by regularly filling them with written content.
It has been launched in collaboration with ParkLogic and digital content distribution partner DistibuteYourArticles.com.
ParkLogic has provided the domain management platform, basing it on its SalesForce.com system.
DistributeYourArticles has meanwhile provided AdEffective with some 600,000 exclusive articles, with over 20,000 added to the platform per week. These can then be provided to each site in a domain portfolio, tailored by subject matter.
The platform represented 10,000 domain names at launch, AdEffective managing director Dean Jones said. He said that by the end of February, he expects there to be 150,000 domains running the platform.
Jones estimates that 80 per cent of domains do not generate sufficient web traffic to cover their annual hosting and registration costs.
ABN shares doubled in value to $0.002 during Thursday's trading.
