Local distributor Alstom IT is assisting in the corporate assault on employees wasting time online with its appointment as national distributor for Websense Inc., an employee Internet management (EIM) vendor.
Websense's enterprise software enables businesses to police how their employees use the Internet. The software monitors and or restricts access to Web sites deemed undesirable in a business environment. This supports an organization's efforts to improve employee productivity, conserve network bandwidth and storage costs, and mitigate legal liability.
According to Greg Newham, general manager of Alstom IT, a lot of Alstom's customers have already expressed interest.
"We believe there is a large market in Australia for EIM software because the country is seeing a reasonable amount of right-sizing, and the need to increase employee productivity is becoming critical to success," Newham said.
Claiming to be the market leader in the U.S., Japan and the U.K., Websense hopes to leverage Alstom IT's experience in security solutions and its extensive customer base to dominate the EIM market in Australia.
"To grow the Australian market, we needed a distributor that was already focused on security, could provide a high level of support and had national coverage. Alstom IT met these criteria," said Julie Wix, Websense's national manager, Asia-Pacific.
