Education and skills dominate ICT professional's election concerns: ACS

Education and the development of a skills base that will enable Australia to play a significant role in the global information economy have been identified as the key election issues for Information and Communications Technology (ICT) professionals, according to the Australian Computer Society.

These issues were highlighted as a result of a recent competition by the organisation asking members to identify what they believed were the three top policy initiatives a new Federal Government should implement to move Australia forward into the information age.

Nearly half of the respondents highlighted education and skills development as critical to Australia's future.

While one third of entries also called for urgent action on national, affordable ICT infrastructure with bandwidth capacity; including provision of Internet access for regional, remote and cultural communities.
