IBM has launched a new Cloud services platform for communications service providers aimed at increasing the speed, secuity, and cost-effectiveness of deploying services to their end-user customers.
The IBM Cloud Service Provider platform promises its hardware set and services allows providers to deliver ‘as-a-service’ offerings, including collaboration applications, customer relationship management (CRM) services, data storage, back up and recovery, and industry-related apps to their customers.
According to Mario Gaon, IBM senior IT architect, ANZ cloud computing team, the Cloud service had the potential to quickly transform their customers’ business and create new sources of revenue.
“IBM is using its cloud expertise to help the world’s service providers capture new market opportunities and expand the value of their networks in new ways,” he said in a statement. “Today’s news goes beyond just providing the infrastructure; we’re also bringing together partners and expertise to help providers grow cloud services into a profitable new business.”
Built on the IBM Service Delivery Manager platform – an app deployment software that automates the deployment, monitors and manages cloud computing services for IT staff – the service also enables providers to accelerate the launch of new partner services from six months to six weeks, cater to tens of thousands of virtual machines per hour, create new apps in a secure development and test cloud, launch partner apps and services (such as unified communications, field force management, sales tracking and CRM), and securely store and access customers’ desktop apps.
