Blue Martini Software Inc. this week detailed Blue Martini Manufacturing, a suite of CRM (customer relationship management) applications that enables manufacturers to automate business processes and deploy customer and partner self-service portals.
The package combines the Blue Martini eCRM application suite with codified business processes specific to manufacturing, according to San Mateo, California-based Blue Martini. Also featured are tools and services for quick deployment.
Modules include Marketing manages marketing and loyalty programs on a closed-loop basis, including the provision of data analysis; Commerce enables customers to check inventory availability, build quotes, and use multiple payment methods; Channel Management enables partners to have the latest sales materials and provide self-service; and Service enables provision of round-the-clock service to customers via portals.
Included with all the modules is a catalog and content management function for assembling and publishing catalogs from data sources distributed across an organization.
A Blue Martini official said the offering is intended to enable manufacturers to achieve eCRM initiatives, providing manufacturing and industry templates and industry practices.
"One of the trends that we're seeing in the market is most manufacturers have spent the last 10 years trying to squeeze every dollar that they can out of their supply chain," said Chip Overstreet, vice president of corporate marketing and business development at Blue Martini. "They're shifting the focus now to the sell-side of the house," to increase revenues and cut costs, Overstreet said.
The suite features packaged integration with leading enterprise resource planning systems, supply chain visibility, and fulfillment applications and marketplaces, the company said. A typical installation, featuring one module, costs about US$250,000. The suite is expected to ship by March 2002.
