Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards (OASIS) on Wednesday announced formation of a technical committee to advance the UDDI specification, which is intended to provide Internet-based directories of available Web services.
Members of the OASIS UDDI Specifications Technical Committee include BEA Systems Inc., Computer Associates International Inc., Microsoft Corp., Oracle Corp., SAP AG, and Sun Microsystems Inc. OASIS was given jurisdiction over the specification when it took over UDDI.org in July.
Formation of the committee means vendors and users will benefit from a consistent, unified approach to the development and implementation of UDDI, OASIS said in a statement.
Use of UDDI has not escalated as some industry insiders had once thought. But others believe UDDI is still in its early stages of deployment.
