In brief: Eclipse Computing invests in MXL education software

Eclipse Computing Australia has acquired education software developer MXL Consolidated in an effort to grow its education portfolio.

MXL will be under Eclipse’s EduPoint, its current integrated education management application, which uses enterprise resource planning solution (ERP) Microsoft Dynamics AX. Eclipse has retained MXL’s key employees to provide support for existing clients and to implement new education software practices for Eclipse.

In a statement, chief executive officer of Eclipse, Bradley Stroop, said the acquisition of MXL will provide an opportunity for the company to “secure valuable intellectual property”.

“Eclipse and Microsoft have identified education as a key market for public investment where real efficiencies can be made using smart solutions to improve connectivity between stakeholders: schools, parents, teachers and students,” Stroop said.

This pre-empts Brisbane Catholic Education’s (BCE) employment of EduPoint for the student administration of more than 134 schools.
