Nokia and Optus tease developers with cash prizes

Calling All Innovators mobile developer competition launched

Optus and Nokia have teamed up to offer Australians up to $5000 in a mobile application developer contest.

The Calling All Innovators contest is run to encourage developers to create applications for Nokia devices.

Global categories for entry include: Green; entertainment; productivity; life improvemen; and a growth economy venture challenge.

There are also two Australian specific categories - productivity and entertainment. The productivity category focusses on mobile forms and is looking for apps that "allow sales or field staff to create an easy form using their Nokia mobile device".

The Australia-specific entertainment category covers puzzles and brain teasers.

Winners of the will receive $5000 along with placement and advertising of their app on the Optus mobile app store. Global winners can get up to $US50,000 in prizes.

Submissions must be entered by 10 June, 2010.
