Bendigo Bank is upping its presence in the retail transactions space with a rollout of 2500 payment terminals nationally over the next 12 months.
Bendigo has committed to two solutions from Cadmus, both based on the new CP03SCR EMV/DES3-compliant terminal. (EMV refers to the specifications issued by EMVCo, formed by Europay, MasterCard and Visa formed in 1999.)
Bendigo's deployment consists of a stand-alone Eftpos terminal and an interface module called Keylink.
Keylink connects Eftpos terminals with a POS (point of sale) or ECR (electronic cash register) which then automatically delivers the value of the transaction to the point of sale, eliminating both the need to re-key figures and the potential for incorrect amounts to be entered at the till.
The bank will work strategically with Cadmus in 2005 to deliver EMV-compliant solutions to its merchant customers in the Australian market.
