HP, SAP to unveil data conversion package

Hewlett-Packard and SAP AG plan to announce the availability of a software system this week that helps users turn raw data from SAP's ERP (enterprise resource planning) software into finished documents and then tracks their delivery to their final recipients.

The HP Output Management System (HP OMS) enables corporate users of SAP software to tailor their output for printer, fax, e-mail, or Web publishing without resorting to complicated programming procedures, said Ian White, HP product manager in the United Kingdom.

An HP OMS package includes on-site implementation, which typically takes 20 days to 40 days, and costs an average of US$400,000, depending on the number of users. HP OMS will support SAP's MySAP.com Internet business suite and the R/3 ERP software suite starting with Version 4.0B, HP said.
