Last week we reported there were only 11 Australian ICT companies exhibiting at the world's largest consumer electronic tradeshow that was taking place in Las Vegas. Some sources say it's because the various government funding agencies (such as CoMICTA) don't rank CES as that important.
But over the weekend Communications Minister, Senator Stephen Conroy gave a speech at the CES plugging the potential benefits of the National Broadband Network (NBN) plan.
Last week we asked the question: Should Australian governments sponsor companies to go to CES?
And the result was telling, 60 per cent said "Yes, absolutely we need a bigger presence" while 40 per cent thought it wasn't key to our industry.
