Baltimore Technologies has announced a new wireless e-security solution enabling users to extend their existing 'wired' public key infrastructure (PKI) systems to their mobile or personal digital assistant (PDA).
The Telepathy Registration System allows organisations, including network operators, to register users and issue wireless digital certificates 'over the air' to mobile devices for secure m-commerce transactions.
Baltimore said this development enables users to use their existing core infrastructure as the basis for their wireless system.
The software works with standard WAP 1.2 phones and uses low bandwidth certificates URLs for registration.
The e-security vendor said the system is currently being piloted and is due for release for Windows NT systems during the second quarter of 2001.
