Robbie Williams speeds into the App Store

iPhone app becomes cross-promotional tool for new album

As if we needed any more proof that listing on the iPhone app store was a measure of coolness, pop star Robbie Williams has launched a racing game on Apple’s App Store.

The release of the game, [[xref: |Robbie Williams Racing]], coincides with the release of William’s new album Reality Killed The Video Star.

Available for the iPhone and iPod touch, the game features a 3D racing environment through the Mojave Desert , the setting of Williams’ recent Bodies video in which he appears riding through the desert on a classic motorcycle.

Players can also choose to compete in a buggy race with a course modelled after Williams’ own private track. And they can listen to the star’s latest songs and game commentary from the star himself.

The game functions as a cross promotional tool, linking back to iTunes so players can buy the album. It was developed by LA-based mobile games publisher, Artificial Life.
