United Parcel Service Inc. has added two new tools to its online toolbox, enhanced two others and made all of them available in XML.
One of the new tools, Signature Tracking, allows approved customers to track packages and receive complete proof-of-delivery including the digitized signature of the person signing for the delivery, the full delivery address, the COD amount collected and the reference number associated with the delivery, the company said in a statement.
The other new shipping tool lets approved customers who ship at least 50 packages per day enable all of their employees to create and print shipping labels from their desktops. Using this tool, employees can share information such as address books, shipment histories and tracking information across internal systems.
In addition, UPS enhanced its Rates & Services, which now provides customers with rates from 35 origin countries to every destination UPS serves. And, the Time-in-Transit too, will now offer enhanced shipping information on all available services between any two points in the US.
UPS said it's also offering XML versions of all UPS Online Tools.
"Offering the tools in an XML standard will make it faster and easier for UPS customers to integrate shipping functionality into their systems and will provide them with more flexibility and customization," said UPS's vice president of e-commerce, Tim Geiken, in the statement. "For instance, users can now add delivery confirmation into an invoice without opening an additional application."
