Winning big outsourcing contracts seems to have become automatic for KAZ Computer Services, which this week added the ANZ to its recent string of successes. In its latest "multi-million dollar contract" KAZ will provide ANZ with the Voucher and Image Processing (VIPS) proof of deposit processing system, which delivers cheque-clearance processing and reconciliation capabilities as well as full digital images of all cheques. The services will be provided by Ausdata, a wholly-owned subsidiary of KAZ.
The enhanced VIPS system to be used to fulfil the contract was designed and developed by KAZ and ANZ jointly and has been enhanced to tailor it for use in the Australian marketplace and to provide a configurable base, explained Peter Kazacos, managing director of KAZ. "The new system represents a brand-new innovation on the market for proof of deposit systems. This is an area of our business which I believe represents an attractive growth opportunity for KAZ."
Kazacos noted that the ability to capture an image of each cheque will ultimately provide the bank with faster retrieval of cheque images when responding to inquiries from customers. The system will be able to store and manage the cheque image archive, which receives up to 750,000 new items a day, he added.
