HarvestRoad strengthens Asian focus

HarvestRoad has made another foray into the Asian market through an alliance with ASPLinux, a Singaporean software developer which recently released a pre-production version of its Linux Distribution System. A spokesman said the software is 100 per cent compatible with Red Hat Linux and will be made available to IT professionals - ISVs, ISPs, NSPs, HSPs, ASPs and data centres -- and others who require additional functionality. It includes HarvestRoad's Web server tools and Website Wizard Web creation toolkit.

"The pre-production release of ASPLinux is designed to facilitate customer testing in the pre-production stage, parallel with testing by the ASPLinux Software Engineering team," explained Sergei Beloussov, CEO of ASPLinux. "We believe that HarvestRoad's Web server-based tools will enable Web portals and virtual community owners to create, aggregate and disseminate a new generation of Web-based application software."

Graeme Barty, managing director of HarvestRoad, said the alliance furthered the company's moves into the Asia/Pacific region. "We already have in place an alliance with Red Hat and with other partners in China, such as Edgemont Asia," he explained. "With the inclusion of our Website Wizard offering, customers of ASPLinux will be able to use our online Web site authoring tool and experience how easy it is to establish and deploy revenue-generating portals."

The software is available from www.asplinux.com.sg
