Flyers get global WAP access

Air transport solution provider SITA has added global roaming WAP (wireless application protocol) access for the airline industry's staff and passengers allowing users direct access to WAP services via a local call. The service will initially be available in 22 countries, including Australia, France, Germany, Japan and the UK. The company delivers WAP roaming through an upgrade of its remote access services. The new network will support V.110 digital signalling which is used by data-capable GSM phones, eliminating the need for the mobile network to revert to an analogue modem interface when connecting.
