Informatica Corp. will ship a new suite of analytic applications this week that will specifically target business-to-business e-marketplaces.
The applications will focus on the overall value chain, including supplier metrics, as well as CRM (customer relationship management) and business operations analytics.
Although customers are looking to increase productivity, such productivity will not come from installing entirely new systems, said Guarav Dhillon, CEO of Informatica. The key is finding ways to maximize the returns on current implementations, he said.
"The big step in an application of technology for companies to solve their business problems is in making the systems that they [already] have work better," Dhillon added.
"There are opportunities to understand the depth of all the systems and all the information involved, if they can pull it together."
A telecommunications services provider, for instance, could analyze its operations to find out how much network capacity it needs as well as what kind of customer would use a certain amount of capacity.
The analysis would also help users determine the best kind of pricing model they could put in place in order to generate new revenue, according to Informatica officials.
Informatica Applications Release 4.1 offers enhancements to Informatica eCRM, Informatica eBusiness Operations, and Informatica eProcurement.
The latest release includes Informatica eMarketplace, an addition to the product family that is designed to make online b-to-b exchanges more efficient.
