AAPT, Telstra line up for 800MHz auction

The Australian Communications Authority has received two applications for the auction of remaining spectrum licences in the 800MHz band.

AAPT and Telstra have registered for the auction, which is expected to go ahead in late February in Canberra.

The 800MHz spectrum will increase the options for the two carriers to deliver additional mobile services, including 3G services, to all regional and remote areas of Australia. The bulk of the band was auctioned in 1988.
