Dun & Bradstreet to buy iMarket

Dun & Bradstreet. yesterday, said it would buy iMarket Inc., a privately-held provider of business-to-business sales and marketing software for small and midsize businesses.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The proposed acquisition would enable D&B to offer marketing software to small and midsize businesses with iMarket's desktop software and Internet portal, called zapdata.com, D&B said in a statement.

The companies have worked together since 1991, and D&B bought a minority interest in iMarket in 1996. IMarket will continue to operate at its Waltham, Mass., headquarters under the current management team.

Pending approval by iMarket's shareholders and other customary conditions, the deal is expected to close in the second quarter of 2001.
