Compaq computer Corp.'s global services division and Cap Gemini Ernst & Young announced last week that they would join to provide worldwide consulting and systems integration services to companies that do business on the Internet.
The two will work together to help companies implement CRM (customer relationship management) and e-procurement software. The initiative also will address issues such as bandwidth, scalability, and network and security concerns.
The partnership arose out of past successes Compaq has had working with Cap Gemini, according to company officials.
Systems offered will be based on Oracle's Internet Procurement and E-Business Suite software packages and will run on Compaq's computers using Windows 2000, Tru64 Unix, and Open VMS-based computers, available immediately.
Although the partners are currently targeting e-businesses, they will expand to financial services and telecommunications companies in the future, according to a statement.
