Symantec has unveiled three new models of its VelociRaptor firewall appliance line, adding better performance and scalability, expanded protocol proxies and more to the devices.
According to the company, the firewalls will add support for redundant configurations to ensure high availability and load balancing.
The three models will each have four 10/100 Ethernet ports and will add proxies for protocols such as H.323 and RTSP (Real Time Streaming Protocol) used in Web conferencing, allowing them to support secure connections. The appliances will also feature enhanced proxies for mature protocols such as HTTP and SMTP.
Support for the new, US government-approved AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) cryptography system, is also a feature of the VelociRaptor line. The firewalls are targeted at offices that have between 30 and 10,000 systems to protect, and offer up to 100Mbps of throughput.
The VelociRaptor 1.5 1100, the low-end model, is designed for networks of between 30 and 100 nodes, and offers 60Mbps of throughput. In Australia it will cost $9889 including GST.
The 1200 supports up to 250 nodes, can handle up to 100Mbps of traffic and will carry a AUD$21,989 price tag.
At the high-end of the range, the VelociRaptor 1.5 1300 has no limit to the number of devices it can protect, performs at 100Mbps and will cost $32,989.
