SkyNetGlobal targets SE Asia broadband

Australian broadband wireless service provider, SkyNetGlobal plans to open a Singapore-based subsidiary as a vehicle for the company's expansion plans.

The subsidiary called SkyNetGlobal (South East Asia), will focus on activities in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines and Brunei.

SkyNetGlobal claims to have the largest broadband wireless network in the world with 80 points of presence in 48 cities worldwide supporting the IEEE 802.11 standard with data transmission of 2 to 11 Mbps.

The company recently announced an alliance with Swedish software developer GlobeSoft AB which will enable business travellers to switch between their corporate networks and the provider's network at start-up.
