New job for ANZ's e-banking boss

In a move that signals a change of emphasis on online services at ANZ Banking Group, Alison Watkins, managing director of personal e-commerce, has been given a new role. As the bank restructures to delineate its city and country services, Watkins has been appointed managing director of Regional Banking, which has been set up to provide greater focus on the distinct issues of customers in regional and rural communities.

Watkins' counterfoil is Elizabeth Proust, who has been appointed managing director of Metrobanking, which includes the personal e-commerce activities formerly managed by Watkins. Proust is currently group general manager of corporate affairs and human resources, a title she will retain as an interim measure.

A spokesman said the reorganisation is another step in the development of a more segmented, customer-focused approach within ANZ's personal financial services business.
