Facebook tests payment model

Aiming to generate revenue, Facebook rolls out payment model on third-party app

Facebook has began testing its virtual currency system on third-party application Group Card, according to TechCrunch.

The new payment platform, currently live to users who are running the application on their Facebook accounts, lets users buy credits in order to make a purchase.

The much-anticipated payments model appears on the application with a ‘Pay with Facebook’ option, and users can purchase approximately 10 Facebook credits for US$1.

Although the Facebook payment roll-out happened quietly, it is sure to be followed closely by the Facebook community. A group of staunch supporters of the free Facebook model titled “We Will Not Pay To Use Facebook. We Are Gone If This Happens”, currently boasts over four and a half million members.
