There may be mounting gloom surrounding the end of the dot-com boom, but that hasn't stopped e-commerce software developer and consulting services company Interserv from expanding into Sydney.
Confessing to having a "State-centric" target market up until now, Interserv managing director Aldous Mitchell said its customers are both national and international, and are "either based in Sydney or very active there."
Mitchell said the inhibitive costs of obtaining quality consulting staff in Sydney was the main reason the move had not been made earlier. "Recent events have helped, including the shakeout in the dot-com sector."
InterServ has appointed former Southern Cross Cable consultant and connect.com.au channel manager Adrian Dunphy as its NSW State manager.
Dunphy said InterServ is currently experiencing "phenomenal growth" and that recent failures of Internet consulting companies had delivered a glut of quality staff to the market. InterServ had recently appointed 16 former Zivo staff.
"This means InterServ can enter the lucrative NSW market place more easily. Serious e-commerce operators like InterServ cannot afford to remain in one State of Australia, especially if that State is not NSW," Dunphy said.
