Business Objects introduces professional services division

Business Objects has introduced a professional services division to service large corporate customers requiring enterprise-wide solutions, reflecting the increasing importance of Asia-Pacific as a growth area.

Ian Parker, newly appointed as professional services manager, Australia and New Zealand, will head the professional services division which will go head to head with the big consulting firms.

Parker has more than five years experience in business objects consulting through former roles with e-BI Solutions and Business Objects in the UK, where he was principal consultant, data warehousing division.

Before joining Business Objects UK, Parker was an applications manager with Melbourne Airport, and held IT roles with Boral Building Products and Olex Cables.

Peter Taylor, Business Objects managing director, Australia and New Zealand, said, "while Business Objects overseas has provided professional services for some time, this service is new for Australia and the new division brings us into line with our operations overseas. We will focus on services to the top 200 companies, particularly large scale enterprises, quality extranet, and analytical applications. We believe these services will be complementary to services offered by our partners and we will be working with our partners in many instances."

Parker has a Bachelor of Science degree from the Victoria University of Technology and has completed courses in advanced data warehousing techniques at Ralph Kimball University (US). He is a member of The Data Warehousing Institute (TDWI, US).
