Deborah Howard, Diversiti Managing Director, wins industry award

Sydney, Australia, 1 February 2005 – Diversiti, an Accenture business, today announced that it will commit all recruitment consultants to the ITCRA (Information Technology Contract & Recruitment Association) Certified Recruitment Professional Program. In addition, Deborah Howard, Diversiti’s Managing Director, has been honoured with ITCRA’s Certified Recruitment Professional Award, for her contribution to promoting professionalism and ethical standards within the IT recruitment industry.

Diversiti has been a strong advocate of ITCRA since its inception in 1998 as an industry body to drive professionalism in IT recruitment. The ITCRA Certified Professional Program ensures best practice and adherence to the ITCRA code of conduct. ITCRA member companies can enrol staff into the program as a means to enhance their professional recruitment skills.

Already more than 30 Diversiti consultants have completed the program. 28 Diversiti consultants are currently enrolled in the online component of the program.

“Diversiti’s investment in the ITCRA Certified Recruitment Professional Program is part of being committed to a process of continual improvement of the company’s staff. Diversiti prides itself on being an ethical and a consistently high-level provider of innovative recruitment solutions to both our clients and candidates. ITCRA certification helps us to ensure this goal,” explained Howard.

“The IT recruitment industry has not always had the best reputation. Encouraging more recruiters to get involved with ITCRA will raise the standard of professionalism in the industry. In turn, this will assist in attracting high quality consultants into the industry and position IT recruitment as a professional and credible career pathway,” continued Howard.

This announcement comes as Deborah Howard was recognised for her contributions to the IT recruitment industry. Deborah, along with seven other industry leaders, was honoured with the Certified Recruitment Professional (Honoris Causa) award at the ITCRA annual general meeting in late 2004.

Norman Lacy, Executive Director of ITCRA, says that Deborah and other award recipients were chosen for the role that they have played in developing and promoting the Association, as well as their knowledge of the recruitment professional role.

“Deborah has displayed an active commitment to promoting the ideals of ITCRA and has played a valuable role in developing its mission, code of conduct and professional development programs. Her ongoing contributions to the industry should be applauded,” commented Lacy.

Deborah Howard is a current board member of ITCRA and leads the ITCRA’s professional development committee.

Tracey Turner, Diversiti’s Brisbane Branch Manager, is also involved with ITCRA and is the current chair of the Queensland branch of the association.

Information Technology Contract & Recruitment Association was incorporated in December 1998. Its establishment was the result of CEOs in the IT contract and recruitment industry coming together to air their concerns with each other about the state of the industry. Uppermost in their minds was the perception that a lack of professionalism was emerging that was generating an unfavourable image amongst client companies and contractors.
They came to believe that the industry needed the sort of leadership that could only be provided by an industry specific body. They also believed that a code of ethics was needed to which industry CEOs committed their companies. Making the industry more efficient by the development of common form contracts, industry specific training programs for staff and contractors, recruitment forums and other projects in which they had a common interest were other joint activities that they wanted to pursue.
Since incorporation the Association’s Code of Conduct has been published; its collateral has been produced; its full-time secretariat has been appointed and its membership has been significantly enlarged.
