Sun Microsystems Inc. and IBM Corp. are among the vendors that will demonstrate heterogeneous storage management at the upcoming Storage Networking World Show this October in Orlando.
A number of companies, including Brocade Communications Systems Inc., Computer Associates International Inc., Hewlett-Packard Co., McData Corp., Qlogic Corp., Quantum Corp. and Veritas Software Corp., will show off Common Information Model/Web-based Enterprise Management (CIM/WBEM) interoperability. CIM/WBEM is incorporated into a specification called Bluefin that the group wants to standardize. BlueFin, when tied to vendors' management products will let users manage any vendor's storage device from a common interface.
The demonstration called CIM-SAN-1 will be of Fibre Channel SAN manageability and will include Fibre Channel host bus adapters, switches, routers, arrays and management software.
The demonstration will be sponsored by the Storage Networking Industry Association.
