MELBOURNE - 23 March 2004 - Juniper Networks, Inc. has provided Singapore Telecommunications Limited (SingTel) with advanced routing solutions to significantly expand the SingTel Internet Exchange (STiX), one of Asia’s largest Internet backbone access networks.

STiX gives Internet Service Providers (ISPs), content providers and corporate users cost-effective and high-speed access to the Internet via submarine cable or satellite. SingTel has expanded its network with Juniper Networks M20 and M40e routing platforms and upgraded existing M-series platforms with new interface cards, extending the reach of SingTel’s IP-based services.

"Besides supporting SingTel’s expansion plans and enhancing our reach and presence in Asia Pacific, the Juniper Networks solution also offers a way to reduce current and future capital expenditure, which is a very compelling benefit," said Chang Wai Leong, director, IP Business, Global Market of SingTel.

The Juniper Networks M-series platform portfolio combines best-in-class IP routing and MPLS capabilities with unmatched dependability, security, and IP service richness, making it the ideal choice for SingTel’s current needs and providing a solid platform for future plans.

"Juniper Networks M-series platforms and the JUNOS operating system have become the solid foundation upon which network service providers such as SingTel and information- intensive enterprises have deployed a wide range of edge and core services," said Brad Gray, vice president Asia South Pacific, Juniper Networks. "The choice of Juniper Networks M-series platforms for STiX further underscores our contribution to the region’s strategic IP infrastructure. The M-series router portfolio enables customers to cost-efficiently scale their networks and service offerings to meet growing bandwidth demands."

"The M-series platforms offer the full breadth of interface type, port density, space and power consumption options to enable a variety of IP/MPLS service deployments. This provides SingTel with performance and flexibility at an extremely competitive cost when it comes to rolling out the next generation of MPLS-based services such as the VPN offerings now being planned," added Gray.
