Update: Microsoft certificate validation flaw

Microsoft has updated its information and released preliminary patches for a flaw in its certificate validation chains, which could allow an attacker who had a valid end-entity certificate to issue a subordinate certificate. This in turn could enable a variety of identity spoofing attacks.

The flaw affects Microsoft Windows, Office for Mac, Internet Explorer for Mac, or Microsoft Outlook Express for Mac.

More information as well as patches are available on the Microsoft Security site.
