Patch: Windows NT, 2000, XP Pro

Microsoft has released a patch for Windows relating to its SMB (Server Message Block) protocol. This fixes a vulnerability whereby an attacker can send a specially crafted packet request and mount a denial of service attack on the target server.

The vulnerability affects Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Workstation, NT 4.0 Server as well as its Terminal Sever Edition, Windows 2000 Professional, Windows 2000 Server, Windows 2000 Advanced Server and Windows XP Professional.
