St George banks on e-learning modules

In a business environment where the rate of change can exceed the rate of learning opportunities, St George Bank has adopted a modular program to train its 1100 managers in leadership, management fundamentals, staff, teamwork and coaching.

The program delivers training through a combination of online, self-training, coaching simulation, teaming and classroom learning. Managers can integrate the program into their daily routine, choosing their own study time either in the office or at home via the Web.

The program, eMPower from IBM Learning Services is hosted on IBM servers using Lotus Learning Space 5.0, delivers 80 per cent of its training content online and 20 per cent in a classroom environment. It equates to four days of face-to-face training as opposed to four weeks in a traditional classroom, an IBM spokesperson said.
