Bank of New Zealand invests in Vignette’s content management system for corporate intranet

<p>Auckland, 20 January 2004 - Bank of New Zealand, one of New Zealand’s leading financial services providers, has chosen content management software from Vignette to help manage its online presence. The Bank will use the software to provide up to date and accurate information for its new intranet site.</p>
<p>The intranet is providing web-based services and information to the Bank’s employee base of about 5000 people.</p>
<p>Vignette provides the content management system for the site, simplifying the process of adding information and ensuring all information is correct and current. Two major initiatives are:
- to communicate new procedures and policies surrounding an SAP implementation to employees through the intranet; and
- to transfer content management and publication to business users from web developers.</p>
<p>Bank of New Zealand is part of the National Australia Group, which is one of the world’s largest and most successful financial services groups, with a wide geographic spread of assets in Australia, the USA, the United Kingdom, Ireland and New Zealand. Recently, the Group rolled out an SAP system worldwide, starting with Bank of New Zealand. This global rollout resulted in a number of new policies and procedures that needed to be communicated to users.</p>
<p>"We needed to make sure that all SAP users in the company not only knew how to use the product, but also were able to get access to help if they needed it," said Russell Cooke, Intranet channel manager, Bank of New Zealand. "The most effective and useful way to do that was to put the information online and let users help themselves. This meant we needed to make sure that information could be added and updated easily on the site so users can feel confident the information they’re accessing is reliable."</p>
<p>The Vignette solution will allow Bank of New Zealand to maintain a consistent look-and-feel on its new intranet site while ensuring that all information available online is approved, accurate and relevant. Vignette does this by transferring the ability to add site content from web developers to business content owners. By eliminating the bottleneck previously created by having to wait for web developers to add or change content, Vignette ensures businesses can put information online in a timely manner.</p>
<p>Vignette’s built-in workflow and permissioning functions mean business content owners know exactly what procedure to follow to get their information online. With Vignette Content Management in place, a simple workflow process guarantees that correct approvals are obtained and allows for immediate publishing.
