Australian broadband wireless service provider SkyNetGlobal today announced a strategic alliance with Toshiba Australia. Under the alliance, SkyNetGlobal's broadband wireless services will be made available to Toshiba's corporate customer base of more than 1,000 companies.
Speaking in Melbourne today at Toshiba's annual mobile computing and communications event, MobileXchange, Toshiba Australia General Manager Bruce Lakin said "We see this as a perfect fit in terms of our focus on delivering broadband wireless technology to our corporate customers. This is very much where our business is focused this year and is reflected in our upcoming product lines, which will include integrated wireless capabilities."
SkyNetGlobal offers business travelers broadband wireless access to email, Internet and office LANs in airports, hotels and conference centres. SkyNetGlobal has just completed Australia's largest 802.11b wireless network, which connects to 27 airport lounges and 13 airports throughout the country and selected major hotels in CBDs.
SkyNetGlobal CEO Jonathan Soon said, "Toshiba is a leading world brand and the number one marketer of portable PCs in Australia. We are delighted to form an ongoing association with the group and are pleased to have Toshiba as another foundation client.
"Our alliance will also involve a number of joint marketing activities which will benefit both groups," Mr Soon said.
The first of these marketing initiatives will involve the linking of SkyNetGlobal's Web site to Toshiba's home page and an online facility to subscribe directly to the SkyNetGlobal broadband wireless service.
