Citect, one of the world’s leading providers of industrial automation software, is integrating its field operations (sales, professional services and training) team with that of parent company, Schneider Electric, and has announced plans to further invest in R&D. The changes are designed to improve service to customers and further strengthen the development of the Citect software suite.

“The combined expertise of the Citect and Schneider Electric automation field operations teams will give customers simpler but greater access to our integrated automation solutions, while our increased investment in research and development, and focus on service and support, will further increase the value we offer customers,” says Christopher Crowe, Chief Executive Officer, Citect.

Citect was acquired by Schneider Electric in 2006 and since then the companies have achieved an average growth of 20 per cent in the SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) business, based on their dual brand strategy encompassing Vijeo Citect and CitectSCADA.

Vijeo Citect, Schneider Electric’s branded version of the CitectSCADA software, was developed by Citect to offer customers the choice of a complete, integrated Schneider Electric hardware and software solution.

Citect will continue to develop both the Vijeo SCADA range as well as the CitectSCADA range in concert with its other software products.

CitectSCADA software will continue to be available from Citect’s network of more than 500 partners located in Asia Pacific, South Africa, Europe and the Americas.

“The integration of the field operations teams, and their on-going management under Schneider Electric, adds a new level of service to the combined group as they are able to more expertly address customers’ needs for a hardware and software solution,” said Lionel Finidori, Managing Director, Pacific Zone, Schneider Electric.

“At the same time, Citect’s expanded R&D program and its focus on services and support, protects the integrity of the software, both at the development and implementation stages.”

The new organisation will come into effect on January 1, 2009.
