Melbourne October 7th 2008.

Multimedia Technology has been appointed as the exclusive National Distributor for Freecom products in Australia. With over 15 years of market experience Freecom’s specialty is in the external and mobile storage products market with their focus on design, functionality and price performance.

Freecom include products such as Media players, Notebook bags, Network NAS’s and Gateways; however Multimedia Technology will initially be concentrating on their range of “tough” portable Hard Drives – known as Toughdrives.

Toughdrive models are available with USB2 and Firewire 400 interfaces with capacities ranging from 160GB to 500GB. All models are bus powered and suit MAC and Windows operating systems. The Freecom Mobile Drive XXS is the worlds 1st native USB interface 2.5” Hard Drive. Covered in a form-fitting rubber sleeve for optimal grip, the native USB removes the requirement for additional heavy casings around the hard drive & bulky components, reducing its overall weight & volume

In 2007 Freecom was awarded the prestigious Red Dot design award for design and function excellence for the Toughdrive product range. With more than 10,000 annual submissions from 60 countries, the international “red dot design award” ranks among the largest and most renowned design competitions in the world.

Fitted with an internal anti-shock frame and a unique soft silicon cover, Toughdrive can withstand bumps and drops from 2 meters making it an ideal companion for today’s mobile executive. In addition to these ruggedized features Toughdrive comes with a 3 year warranty. “A great product to compliment Panasonic Toughbook sales and Shintaro Enclosures!” said Mark Eichler Product Manager for Freecom.

Stock will be available from early October and back orders from previous resellers have already started to be placed.
