St George banks on Teradata

Data centre gets bigger, faster

St. George Bank has deployed a new data warehousing solution to increase the speed and capacity of its data centre network and storage.

The bank rolled out the first Australian deployment of Teradata's 5550 platform and 12 database, and upgraded its four-node 5400 platform for redeployment as a disaster recovery system.

The three-node 5550 platform includes an additional hot standby node running Linux for the Group Data Warehouse, along with a contract with Teradata for maturity assessments and roadmap support.

St.George Bank.head of enterprise business intelligence Jean-Claude El-Sabbagh said the roll out will future-proof the bank's data centre for growth.

“[The solution] prepares us for the next phase of growth and the next generation of data warehousing, and continues to be very successful,” El-Sabbagh said in a press release.
