Incumbents Feel the Pressure as Competition Increases in the ANZ Identity and Access Management Market, Says IDC

<p>Sydney, 2 September 2008, A new IDC report has shown the competition in the Identity and Access Management (IAM) market in Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) has intensified over the last 12 months. Oracle has established a strong presence in the market, challenging other incumbents including IBM, CA, Sun and Novell.</p>
<p>IDC's latest study titled Australia and New Zealand Identity and Access Management Competitive Analysis, 2008, states that IDC expects the competition to continue to intensify and as a result, we should see more aggressive fighting for tenders and better solutions for customers.</p>
<p>“Customers are increasingly looking for well integrated solutions that offer strong workflow and simplified management. Suite vendors that provide integrated, end-to-end IAM solutions will be in a good position to compete in the ANZ market,” says Patrik Bihammar, Senior Analyst, Security Solutions, IDC Australia and New Zealand.</p>
<p>"The increasing competition in the ANZ market will put pressure on IAM vendors to continue to evolve their offerings either through research and development (R&amp;D) or acquisitions. Ultimately, customers will be the ones benefiting from the growing competitive pressure and maturity of IAM solutions," added Bihammar.</p>
<p>The report provides a competitive analysis of the main IAM suite vendors in the ANZ market. It includes profiles of BMC, CA, IBM, Microsoft, Novell, Oracle and Sun and an IDC Leadership Grid which rates the performance and competitive position of these vendors in the ANZ IAM market.</p>
