Police bust group of alleged child porn downloaders

The AFP has arrested six men and seized over two million child pornography images alleged to have been downloaded from an international paedophile network.

Six men from across Australia, accused of downloading images from a worldwide child pornography network, will soon face court.

The Australian Federal Police estimates it has seized over two million child abuse images in the course of the investigation.

Three men from Victoria, two from WA and one from SA have been arrested, and each face a maximum penalty of 10 years imprisonment.

The men are due in court in the next three weeks. The Victorian suspects will face Melbourne Magistrate's court, and the WA suspects will appear in two separate WA courts.

The investigation was initiated by the London-based Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre [CEOP], which informed the AFP in March this year.

SA and WA police also assisted in the collaborative operation. Raids and arrests occurred between April and the end of July.
