SuSE Linux to offer Sun's Grid Engine

SuSE Linux AG will become the latest distributor of Sun Microsystems Inc.'s Grid Engine 5.3 software, company representatives announced Monday.

Sun's Grid Engine will ship in the upcoming release of SuSE Linux 8.0 Professional Edition. Grid Engine technology assists users in deploying and managing networks -- or grids -- of distributed, interconnected, and often clustered servers, according to Sun representatives in Palo Alto, Calif. Linux continues to be a catalyst for grid computing as more users realize the reliability of Linux in server clusters, a common server fabric within grids, according to industry experts.
