EMT subsidiary negotiating contract to supply Vietnamese drivers' licences

If realised the company will supply around 7 million licences per year, each using the Nexcode security system.

An EMT subsidiary is poised to win a contract which would see the company be responsible for the provision of all drivers' licenses issued by the Vietnamese Transport Ministry.

The subsidiary, Nexbis Sdn. Bhd., has received a letter of intent from the Ministry, and the parties will soon enter into an 120-day discussion period over the terms.

From preliminary information provided to the company, EMT expects that a total of 6.5-7 million licences would be issued in the first year, and with 4.5-5 million replacement and 2.5 million new licences to be issued each year after that.

The licences will use Nexbis' Nexcode security system, which allows any internet capable camera phone to display secure data stored in bar codes printed on identification documents.
