IT systems in Australia's energy industry will come under the microscope as part of a Federal Government security assessment.
Security issues and IT systems will be assessed as part of a draft blueprint for the next 10 years for the energy industry.
IT is one component of the planned review, said a spokesperson for the Minister of Industry, Ian Mcfarlane.
A panel is currently being formed to focus on matters challenging the national energy market, including state compatibility and communication within the industry.
An issues paper, which contains guidelines to submissions to the panel, will include IT concerns. CIOs and IT managers in the energy industry, will be invited to make submissions.
Members of the panel should be announced by the end of the week. The assembled panel will then decide the agenda for the next 12 months.
