Queensland TAFE has extended an existing three-year contract with Unisys for a further two years of desktop support and managed services.
Unisys will be responsible for IT services for the 15 TAFE Institutes and 85 Campuses throughout the state, handling up to 8,000 calls per month, desktop support for 12,000 computers, management of some 240 servers as well as network support, asset management, project services and programme management.
Unisys Australia and New Zealand Managing Director Mike Ettling said the contract extension is similar to the deal Unisys currently has with the New South Wales Department of Education.
"TAFE Institutes are in the business of providing cost-effective, vocational education and training across the state, which our IT infrastructure outsourcing services and specialist solutions enable them to do," Ettling said.
The contract involves using Queensland sub-contractors and a number of smaller state-based IT providers.
