Dell Computer Corp. and Unisys Corp. have signed an agreement worth US$1 billion, expanding their services relationship to include servers as well as desktop and notebook computers, the two companies announced last week. The deal includes OEM agreements, under which the companies will rebrand and sell each other's Intel-based servers, and it is expected to bring the companies a combined $1 billion during the next three years. Dell will sell 16-and 32-processor servers based on the Unisys cellular multiprocessing (CMP) architecture under the Dell brand, and Unisys will sell Dell's two-, four-, and eight-processor PowerEdge servers under the Unisys brand.
