InterOPS beefs up correlation in management service

InterOPS Inc. on Monday upgraded its outsourced management service for financial services companies with a revved-up correlation engine and a client portal.

InterOPS' Reflex 2.0 now features a correlation engine and a client-side portal from which InterOPS users can perform real-time online configuration management, the company says. Chris McLellan, the founder and chief technology officer of InterOPS, who spun the company out of Fidelity Investments Inc. operations, says InterOPS late last year decided to focus its attentions on targeting financial services companies. He says the correlation engine is designed for the fast-paced environment of financial services.

"The processes for corrective action are all automated, which makes solving problems much faster," McLellan says. InterOPS offers three levels of service based on what companies desire, and those services range from remote, continuous monitoring to hands-on, daily network management.

The correlation engine inputs data associated with production problem alerts into its business rules engine. It then matches the problems with resolutions, thereby reducing the time needed to diagnose and resolve problems, InterOPS says.

The customer-facing ClientView Portal, another addition to Reflex 2.0, lets InterOPS personnel automate configuration changes to a network or system.

The upgrade also features an incident template that customers and InterOPS engineers can use to store information regarding how to solve network problems. The template is then saved and would be used to take automated corrective actions in the case of future problems.

InterOPS does not install software in customers' networks. InterOPS connects to customer networks via a VPN or Secure Sockets Layer connection, and uses APIs to talk to the customer systems. The company says the service offering "mimics what the customers see in their environment" and uses customers' existing agents to get network performance and fault data.

Pricing for Reflex 2.0 is based per application and can cost between US$15,000 and $25,000 per month, depending on the level of service.
