HDS, AlphaWest 6 sign distribution agreement

System integrator AlphaWest 6 and enterprise storage vendor Hitachi Data Systems have signed an agreement for the licensing and distribution of Hitachi Freedom Storage network solutions.

Under the agreement, Hitachi Data Systems will become AlphaWest 6's Unix storage partner in conjunction with Sun Microsystems.

The integrator, a wholly owned subsidiary of Solutions 6, already offers the range of 9900 products as a Sun partner. The deal extends AlphaWest 6's product line to allow it to offer mid-range storage solutions to customers through direct access to Hitachi Freedom Storage 9200.

Managing director of AlphaWest 6, Garry Henley, said, "Storage and infrastructure issues have moved to the boardroom as a central strategy to ensure competitive advantage. Our customers increasingly report that simple, cost-effective and efficient storage is vital to their businesses."
