Citrix boosts Web conferencing power

Citrix Online has this week added new features to its corporate Web conferencing solution, now enabling users to host meetings with up to 200 attendees at a flat rate.

In addition to enabling increased attendee numbers, Citrix GoToMeeting 1.1 has increased security, and provides a simplified (wizard driven), automated two-minute set up.

GoToMeeting is an online meeting and collaboration product that lets users deliver presentations, collaborate on documents and share confidential information.

The product has screen sharing ability, so that the presenter's PC, with all full-colour illustrations and graphic-intensive applications is shown to meeting attendees on their own desktop.

GoToMeeting has bundled integration with most e-mail and instant messaging programs and provides 128-bit end-to-end AES encryption.

Citrix Online is delivered over a flat-rate 'All You Can Meet' pricing model.

"Unlike other products, there are no restrictions on usage, so individuals can meet as often and for as long as they like and gain maximum productivity from the solution," said Citrix Online senior account executive Carl Braid.

"We supply an accurate invoice with a predictable fee. We see this product as a value-add to a business rather than a drain on the budget."

There is a one-off activation fee of $49 for GoToMeeting and then a range of annual licence fees. A $6000 licence fee enables the user to host an unlimited amount of meetings, for an unlimited amount of time for up to 50 attendees.

An annual fee of $11,000 enables the host to meet with up to 100 attendees while a $15,000 fee covers 150 attendees; an $18,000 fee enables meetings of up to 200 people.

Braid said the geographically dispersed populations of Australia and New Zealand, with increasingly flexible working hours, and broadband penetration that's starting to grow are perfect markets for Citrix Online's collaboration solutions.

Citrix Online was formed as a separate division of Citrix following the vendor's March 2004 acquisition of Expertcity for $US225 million.
