Business intelligence vendor Brio Software announced on Monday an enterprise metrics system designed to allow companies to build metrics around business processes to boost overall company performance.
The move sees Brio join an increasingly crowded business performance management market with BI vendors including Cognos and Hyperion also announcing in recent weeks plans push BI data up to C-level executives.
Brio metrics Builder 7.0 combines data from operational and legacy systems with the business decision process to provide users with an interactive, real-time metrics analysis environment, according to company officials.
By spanning multiple business functions, users can quickly identify problems and examine them against business plans, take corrective action and adjust those plans accordingly.
"We're extending business intelligence out to the enterprise," said Nick Ochoa, Brio product marketing manager. "The metrics provide an aligned view of the business from the CEO all the way down to the individual contributor level."
While a single query can provide a snapshot of certain activity, Metrics Builder is designed to provide ongoing monitoring of trends to evaluate business strategy. In addition, with the ability to drill and focus on an assortment of business metrics, users have access to sophisticated business performance methodologies, a capability traditionally reserved for business analysts, Ochoa added.
With personalized Web-enabled dashboards, employees across all levels of the organization receive data through drillable charts, graphs and reports specific to their individual needs.
The product also features role-based security, including hierarchy, column, and time functions. This, combined with secure HTTP support for deployments beyond the corporate firewall, allows enterprises to open the business performance value chain to suppliers and other partners.
Metrics Builder will help Toyota Motor Sales to quickly identify potential performance problems and take immediate action to fix them, said Mike Burkes, data access manager, at Toyota in Torrance, Calif.
In addition to providing users with critical business metrics created from information located within various departments throughout a company, Metrics Builder can distribute those metrics via easy-to-use dashboards, enabling users to increase efficiency and maximize business results, he added.
