Sun Microsystems has appointed Tony Webster as national industry manager for Federal Government business.
Webster, who will be based in Canberra, takes up the position after returning from two years in Singapore Compaq director global accounts looking after Fortune 500 customers in the Asia-Pacific region. He worked for Compaq from 1997 to 2000 in Canberra in the role of federal region manager and has 20 years experience in dealing with government.
Webster has also worked with Digital Equipment Corporation in roles including national Defence business manager, manager PC sales, and branch manager for the Australian Capital Territory.
Before entering the IT industry, Webster worked in the Australian Defence Forces where he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He has a Bachelor of Arts from the Royal Military College, New South Wales University.
